Hard Headed

Apparently I am hard headed. After being told, by several people, not to stay on my feet ALL day, I did it anyway. I am now paying for it! My feet started swelling today and it is so uncomfortable. I am really at a loss on how I am suppose to teach effectively and not stand! Any suggestions? I really do sit every chance I have, but those chances sometimes only come every 2-3 hours and only for a few mins at a time. Does anyone know of any remedies that may help? I will have another doctors apt. next Monday, so I will ask him then.

Anywho... I had a relaxing weekend. Friday after working to about 5:30 we met up with Amy and Michael to eat Mexican, and then went home and crashed! Saturday I worked on lesson plans most of the morning and did some laundry. Nick got the chair railing trim and painted it white. We watched the Georgia game and of course they WON!!! GO DAWGS!! We then picked up barbecue for supper and just chilled at home. Sunday we went to Anderson to check out the new KOHLS!!! The maternity section was literally a very small corner in the store, but I did find two sweaters for the winter. We then ate at Chili's and headed home to wash our cars. They have been so negelected lately and were in desperate need of a good wash. We spent the rest of the day being lazy which is always nice! I hope you had a great weekend also!!

I STILL need suggestions for middle names for Andrew. A student today suggested Conner, which I actually kinda of like. What do you think?

Hi! I found your blog from Kelly's Korner via Boomama =) Congratulations on being a soon-to-be-Mom! My daughter is expecting a little boy, our first grandchild, on Nov. 25. I am also a 5th grade teacher. I know how demanding the job can be. I'm much older than you and my difficulty standing is due to bad knees. One thing that helped me with mine is a bar stool to "perch" on. It takes some of the strain off of my knees. But, it really won't help you with swollen feet and ankles.

I think that you should get another chair, foot-stool, something to elevate your feet in the afternoon. Fifth grade is a wonderful age. This is my 15th year at that grade level. You might adapt some things in your classroom that would make it easier on you and they could take ownership for. What if you were in a wheelchair for another issue? It doesn't mean you couldn't do your job. Explain your problem. Open it up to discussion as to how they could assist you on your most difficult days. I'm sure that you will be pleasantly surprised =)

Middle names....hmmmmm. How about Christian? I have a student named Alex Christian. I think it's a nice name. Parker? Heath? Thomas? Andrew goes with a lot of names. I love the name Andrew!

Good luck :)

I like William or Dillon or Lukas or Jackson, but I'm partial to all those names. ;-) Good luck.

I think Andrew Connor sounds nice. We have chosen family names for the middle name. Maybe a maiden name of a female in your family?

Poor Robyn, you need some really good, supportive shoes!

Can't wait to see the room! Andrew Connor is cute! I'm no help, I love tons and tons of boy names.
