Today is my dad’s 60th birthday!! You would never know he was sixty. It doesn’t look it or act it.

This was taken a few months ago.

I have so many wonderful memories of my dad! From fishing, riding home from school, teaching me how to drive, to walking me down the aisle. He would do ANYTHING for me! I am so blessed to have him as a father!! I love you daddy!

P.S. I have been in a blogging funk. I don’t have much to write about…I will return when something interesting happens.

Andrew 14 months

Andrew turned 14 months on the 18th! Wow time keeps moving and I want it to STOP!

Weight/Height: Guessing around 23lbs. He has his next checkup at 15 months.

Clothes: 12 to 18 months

Food: He drink about 3 to 4 sippy cups full of whole milk a day plus one to two sippy cups of half water and half juice. He is still a picky eater but does love bananas, yogurt, breakfast bars, crackers, cheese, cheese quesadillas, French fries, chicken, and ham. As you see there are NO vegetables on this list and only one fruit. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know! We offer veggies or fruit at almost every meal, but he pushes them away.

DSC00407(rev 1)

Motor Skills: He is still crawling, pulling up, standing on his own, and cruising everywhere. He will walk if I am holding onto one hand. I wrote this last month and the only thing that has change is him pushing things around the house to walk around.

Sleep: goes to sleep around 8-8:30 and sleeps in his crib till about 12 and then refuses to sleep in it and so he goes to our bed where he sleeps till 6 am during the week and sometimes as late at 7:30 on the weekends. He wakes usually just once and sometimes not at all. When he is at home he takes two good naps, but usually only one at the babysitters.

DSC00475(rev 1)

Talking: New word-UP! and PLEASE. I am really working on him using his words instead getting frustrated. I think this is going to be the hardest part of raising a toddler. I can tell he wants to tell me something, but he can’t seem to find the word. He does try to say a ton of words but not consistently. DSC00443(rev 1)

Teeth: He has about  6 teeth.  I have a feeling more are about to come through.DSC00449(rev 1)

He is getting more playful by the day. He will take off crawling at warp speed when he knows he is in trouble or if I am coming to tickle him. Speaking of tickling, it is his favorite thing for me to do! He is also really into taking everything out of his diaper bag and putting it back in. He also loves books, magazines, and sales papers. Why read when you can rip it to shreds!!?

My boys

As we were working in the yard I snapped some cute pictures! Nick had to use a rubber tire backhoe(yes I had to ask what it was called!) to move the giant rocks and Andrew just had to jump on for a few pics! Nick operates this machine all day, so it was cute to see Andrew on it! He LOVED sitting up so high and pulling all the levers!DSC00508(rev 1) DSC00509(rev 1) DSC00512(rev 1) DSC00518(rev 1) DSC00520(rev 1) DSC00525(rev 1)

Even Duncan had to join in on the fun!

This past Sunday Nick and I worked ALL day to finish our new flower bed under the tree in our back yard! We still have a ton of work to do outside and with a child it takes so much longer to do anything. I tried to occupy him outside and worked my tail off when he was taking a nap. Luckily for us he took two really good naps! We still have mulch to put down and finish our other beds. As they say “the fun never ends!”

Laying out the plants

DSC00528(rev 1)   The plants are hard to see because they are still small. We planted azaleas, hydrangeas, hostas, and few things that do not remember the name for! HA!DSC00534(rev 1)  This is one of the two rocks Nick found on a job site a few years ago. They turned out so well!DSC00535(rev 1)

The big plants are a lilac and Russian Sage that were moved because they were getting so big.

DSC00536(rev 1)

In this picture you can see the other rock.

DSC00537(rev 1)

I also planted some flower boxes and hanging pots for our porch.

I am going to take more and better pictures when we apply mulch this coming weekend. Hope you enjoyed! Also say a huge prayer for my students! They are taking state test and the are so nervous!

My big boy…

Andrew turns more into a toddler everyday! He is no longer my little baby!

He is now saying ball, paci, bath, and several other words that I can’t think of at the moment.

More than anything he is understanding more. I can say “Do you want to take a bath?” and he will take off to the bathroom. It is amazing how smart he is getting, but of course I knew he was going to be smart! LOL!

He has been throwing a ball and trying to catch one for several months. The cutest thing is when he picks up anything and holds it to his ears and pretends to talk on the phone! This is really weird because neither Nick or myself talk on the phone very often.

However, this little stinker will not walk for NOTHING!! He will push something and walk, but will drop to his bottom if you try to make him walk. What am I going to do!!

Here are some recent pictures of my precious BIG BOY!

I want to start by saying that you for all the sweet comments about my home! Thank you so much! I LOVE decorating , but with a little one it is so hard because everything has to be put away.

Now onto the real post! We made a lot of progress with the yard. We pulled out all weeds and pruned some rose bushes. Nick cleared an area around the big tree in our back yard. This weekend we are going to buy new plants to fill all the space we have now! I think I like shopping for plants more than I like shopping for clothes, and that is A LOT!

Big space around the tree. See that white thing to the left of the tree? That is a future fire pit project!!

DSC00431(rev 1) The purple flowers are going to be moved to the ditches beside our driveway The spread really fast and are beginning to take over.  Duncan is loving the cool dirt!DSC00432(rev 1)

I LOVE this Japanese Maple !!  We need new plants for this area…

and this area.

We also planted a lot of herb seeds, but they will take awhile. I will update on our findings this weekend. If you are in the area the high schools FFA club is having their annual plant sale Wed-Sat.!! Their prices are cheap!

I am loving this necklace!! I really think I DESERVE one for Mother's  Day. Maybe I should leave this on the computer for someone to stubble upon. What do you think?

You can check out more of there things here!

My Home

I had a recent post about my home away from home (my classroom), so I thought I would do a post about my actual home. Nick and I built this house in 2005 and did a lot of the inside ourselves. It was grueling, but worth every minute. Our home is small, so this will not take long!HA!

The first several pictures are one big room.

This is the office area.

Best Buds

Andrew just LOVES Duncan! He will often go up to him and rub his head on him. Duncan basically follows him around all day! I think this pair will make great memories together!!
