Book Beginnings and Book Ends

I am going to TRY to be a part of a book club that can be found on It sounds like a great way to find out about great books! Now that I have my Nook I have been looking for new books to read. I do start class back on Aug. 9th, but I hope I can squeeze in some time to read before bedtime!!

The first book is The Secret Life of CeeCee Wilkes by Diane Chamberlain.

Thanks to Life of a Charming Wife for recommending!41OvB06y78L._BO2,204,203,200_PIsitb-sticker-arrow-click,TopRight,35,-76_AA300_SH20_OU01_

Back to School

As most of you know I am a 5th grade teacher. I teach Math and Science twice each day. This is my 6th year teaching and you would think the beginning of the year would be a piece of cake by now, but oh no it is not! There are a million things to do before the first day and it just never seems to end. Every year seems to get harder!

We had Meet the Teacher on Thursday and it went GREAT!! I have some wonderful students and parents this year. I am so excited about this year!!

I hope to take pictures of my classroom again this year. It has changed a little from the last pictures. I also began a classroom website this year that includes homework, announcements, and pictures! All the parents seemed appreciative of this. If you want to visit you go to  Username: beele and Password: southhart. I would love any suggestions people have.

We are going to enjoy the weekend together and I hope you do too!

The Price is Right!

No I am not talking about the game show (even though I LOVE the show), but I am talking about our house addition price. We got the estimate on Friday and the price was right where we thought it should be. We are still looking at trying to cut a few more dollars so we can have money for some new furniture. Overall everything looks great! We are going to the bank on Monday to talk about the loan and then hopefully start pouring the foundation. After the foundation is ready the contractor is estimating it will take 4 months to complete. I am SOOO hoping we can be moved in before Christmas. I would love to be able to feel organized around that time of the year. Also I wouldn’t mind being able to decorate for the season!!

We are having a laid back weekend and about to go to my parents to eat with my family! Can’t wait!

17 Months

Andrew turned 17 months on the 18th of this month. He is constantly changing and I am so glad I have been able to keep track of every month!DSC01229(rev 1)

Weight/Height: He was 22 lbs at his 15 month checkup, so I am guessing 23 or 24lbs. He has grown 2 inches and is now 32 inches tall!!

Clothes: 18 months and size 5 shoe

Food: He is now drinking 2 sippy cups of milk, one in the morning and one before bed. He also drinks about 2 cups of juice mixed with water. He continues to be an extremely picky eater! Nothing has changed there. I am not sure how he is growing!

DSC01529(rev 1)Motor Skills: Walking, dancing, climbing stairs, pushes everything, throws ball (has for a while), open doors, and basically doing anything and everything.

Sleep: Sleeps all night and 2 (sometimes 1) naps during the day for 1-2 hours each. He goes to bed between 8:30-9:30 and sleeps from till 6:30 or 7. This will be bumped up when I go back to work.

Talking: Constantly talking and saying new words. Some new words that I can think of are: truck, car, ride, vrooom, choo choo, Apa (Nick’s father), Nana (Nick’s grandmother), Nanny (my mom), papa (my dad), cracker, Elmo, and TV. He is also blowing kisses, giving hugs, and kisses (when he wants of course!).

Teeth: 7 and a few more are coming through soon.

Interest: He still loves books and being read to. He loves singing any song, but Wheels on the Bus is his favorite right now. He loves ELMO, Barney, and The Wiggles!

We love you Andrew!!

To-do List

3198229212_3625276d08I have been marking so much off my to-do list lately and I am so happy! I have worked in my classroom for the last two days and have gotten so much done. I have completed lesson plans for the first two weeks, room arranged, folders laminated, my desk cleaned, and bulletin boards ready! I have more to do, but in two days I have accomplished more than I thought.

DSC_EXERCISE_CLASS_large.323135110I am also beginning to enjoy working out. I have NEVER enjoyed working, but I am on my third week of working out 5 to 6 times a week. I actually look forward to it everyday. I can also really tell a difference in the way my clothes fit, so that is a MAJOR plus!

indeximage Yesterday we finally talked to the contractor and went through all the details of the house addition. He is going to get prices on everything and meet back with us later this week or beginning of next week. I am getting so excited!!

I hope everyone is enjoying their day!!

Low Key

We had a very low key weekend and it was so nice! We had no where to go, so we just lounged around! My kind of weekend. I took some pictures of the weekend.

Me, Duncan, and Andrew

End of Summer

I am enjoying my last full time days at home with Andrew. Starting Monday I am going back to school to work on things for the upcoming school year. I am not staying the whole day. Anyway, Andrew and I have been loving our time together.

Tonight a group of my friends are going out to celebrate my birthday and one of my friends. We normally do local Mexican, but we are going to mix it up and go out of town. I am super excited!

Also I have again managed to workout 5 days again this week. It is so easy to find the time and energy to work out when I am not dragging home from work everyday. I hope I can keep this up when I go back to work full time. The only thing bad about working out 5 days in a row is the soreness. My muscles have had no time to rest and I am sore everywhere! I have been sore everywhere for two weeks. When will it end!?

We are hoping to meet the contractor today to discuss details on the addition. I am starting to get a little excited, but nervous at the same time!

Have a great weekend! I am off to CLEAN!

Andrew LOVES anything that has to do with water! Yesterday I got out the hose, striped him down, and he went wild! He loved drinking the water the most!

Happy Hump Day!

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

This will be a random post for sure!

I have had several people on here, facebook or in person, ask me what I am doing to workout. I mentioned on here and facebook that I have been working out on a regular basis for a while. So what am I doing? As I have said before, I TiVo Total Body Sculpt on Fit TV. It is a thirty minute show including commercials. It is mainly for sculpting and strength exercises, hence the name. I have been really looking for something with more cardio and I found it! I am pretty sure that this is a new show and it is called Weight Loss Workout and it is also on Fit TV. It is also 30 mins, but is focused on cardio. The one I did today was kickboxing with yoga stretches for the cool down. It is kind of fast paced and since it was my first time, I was sloppy. I did sweat like crazy and really felt like I got a good exercise.  I plan on alternating the two exercises.

Yesterday I went to a meeting at school and when it ended I went to my classroom to work. I love the beginning of the year and the planning and organizing. Call me crazy! I didn’t stay too long, but I did get things put back to there places. I am going to start going back next week and work a little everyday. I go back to work on the 29th for preplanning. We also have new curriculum (National Standards), so I need time to familiarize myself.

I also have been going curly with my hair lately. It is so hot to worry with blow drying and straitening. I took a  pic!

Look out for the post tomorrow! Andrew had fun playing in the water today and I took some adorable pictures!

Final House Plans

Nick and I spent a part of Sunday working on our final set of house plans. We are happy with the end result and cannot wait for everything to start happening. We have to give the plans to the contractor and wait till he is ready to sit down with us and discuss details. Then we will talk to the bank, get a construction loan, and BEGIN!! Not much changed from the last plans, but the dinning room and kitchen got bigger!!

Here are the final plans and you can actual see them this time!! I would love any feedback! The left is part of the house now, so we are basically adding a small house too it.

DSC01458(rev 1)

Andrew was getting a little bored with us, so he decided to play with the tape measure. DSC01453(rev 1) DSC01454(rev 1) DSC01457(rev 1)

By the way I have to give myself a pat on the back for working out 5 times last week! I just need to get my eating under control! That is the hard part!

I am 1 for 1 this week!

I Heart NOOK!

Nick surprised me (well not really!) with a Nook today!!! I may or may not have thrown around a few hints! It is like a Kindle, but in my opinion better. It is a digital reader and you download books and read them!! May not sound too impressive, but to me it is amazing!! So excited! Now I am ready to enjoy my birthday!

My Birthday

Tomorrow is my 27th birthday! I am getting older by the day, but I guess I have to embrace it. My mom and dad are going to keep Andrew tomorrow, so we can go out and see a movie and eat dinner. I can’t wait!! I love going to see movies and it is so hard to get away for something selfish without feeling guilty.

We are going to see ECLIPSE!! I have read all the books and love them! Nick is not so thrilled, but it’s my birthday and I really want to see it! He thinks he will be the only guy in the theater. Let’s hope not!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Making Plans

The house plans are moving slow. With Nick working so much we haven't found the time to work on the drawings and finalize them. I included a picture of the drawing that is in progress. It is actually pretty close to what we want, but with a few minor adjustments.

Starting at the left is the front door that we currently have and this is not going to change. Right now you walk in our front door and go immediately up a flight of stairs and the living space is on the second floor. This second floor will remain the same except the kitchen will be turned into an office. On the new plans you will walk into a foyer/mudroom and into the living room. The space on the left in between the kitchen and living room is the same stairs, but changed a little. There is also a separate dinning room, power room, and master bedroom with bathroom. It is hard to see on the picture, but that is the best I could do. We are undecided on the outside space. We want a huge deck and screened in porch, but we are not sure where to put them. I am so excited about the possibilities and we hope to sit down with the contractor very soon and start talking prices! Not excited about the prices, but the progress!!

Right now I am a stay at home mom, just for the moment. I am enjoying this time with Andrew and I know it will be over before I know it. We have been playing, reading, blowing bubbles, pushing things around the yard, and loving on one another. He loves being on a schedule (just like his mom) and is taking two naps a day and the exact time each day! He is such a good napper (and always has been) and I will miss the days when he is only taking one! I get so much done when he is asleep. He has been so hard to take pictures of him lately because he is constantly on the go. He was eating lunch yesterday and I started clicking! He posed different in every picture!

DSC01351(rev 1) DSC01352(rev 1) DSC01364(rev 1) DSC01370(rev 1) DSC01374(rev 1) DSC01399(rev 1)

These were all taken within 2 mins. What a cheeser!?

His latest OBSESSION is cars, trucks, lawnmowers, and really anything that is a vehicle. He is constantly looking at me and saying “Outside, Vrooom!” That means he wants to sit in a car or lawnmower and pretend to drive. So cute!

DSC01420(rev 1) DSC01429(rev 1)

So we have been doing a lot of this!

I am so looking forward to Big Brother tonight!!!

* I am now 3 for 3 on working out this week!

Shows I am Loving!

If you know me at all, you know I LOVE television!! I watch WAY too many shows, but I really do love it!

As all TV buffs know, summer is usually a downer for shows. Now that I actually have free time, I have been on the look out for new shows. I have found some really great ones! Now some of these shows are not new, but they are new to me!

Jersey Couture:Oxygen Tues. @ 10pm

I just started watching this show and I LOVE it! This reality show follows a family that is in the dress business in New Jersey. The family is hilarious and the dresses are beautiful! I would love to work at this place!

Pretty Little Liars: ABC Family Tues. @ 8pm

I really thought this would just be a teenage girl cute show, but it is so much more. It is full of mystery and suspense! Think Desperate Housewives with teenagers!

Big Brother 12: CBS Premieres Thursday @ 8pm

I watched Big Brother from day one and I can’t wait for the new season!! Yes the show is full of drama and crazy people, but I promise you will not be able to stop watching!

American Pickers: History Channel Monday @ 9pm

A little random I know! I came across this show when I couldn’t find anything else to watch, and I was in love. The show follows two brother’s quest around America to find treasures from peoples yards, barns, and basements. I love looking at antiques (even though I have none), so I love the hunt. They not only look for antiques, but cool vintage signs, car parts, and anything imaginable . Cool Show!

I could probably add a few more, but I will stop here! Have a great day!

P.S. I am two for two on working out this week! WOOT! WOOT!

Day Trip to the Zoo

Yes, TWO post in one day! Yesterday Nick was off work, so we decided to take a day trip to the Greenville Zoo! We got there right when they opened and enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the zoo. The zoo was not crowded, so we were able to enjoy everything. Andrew was more interested this time! ( We went to the Atlanta Zoo when he was 6 months old).  They even had a toddler playground inside of the zoo. Unfortunately I did not realize my camera battery was dying.  I was unable to get many pictures, but here is what I did take.

We had a great day and for $7 for Nick and I (Andrew was FREE), we will be going back!
