Graduation

This past Thursday my precious 5th graders had their recognition. The parents did such a good job with all the d├ęcor! The kids did such a good job getting all dressed and singing their class song. I know this moment was so bittersweet for so many parents and students. It was extremely bittersweet for me. I have loved having this group of kids. They have made me so proud this school year and I will hate to see them leave! One bad thing about being a 5th grade teacher is that you don’t get to see the kids the next year. There were a lot of tears shed Friday!

It seems like yesterday I was doing this for the first time. In July, I will be doing it for the third time! Where has the time gone. We have our 10 year high school reunion this year. CRAZY!

Congrats to all the hardworking graduates!

Growing up

Last Saturday we got Andrew’s hair cut. We had been doing the same cut for awhile, so I decided to get it cut much shorter for the hot months approaching.   I love it!!

I have it spiked in these pictures…he things he is something! After I fix it he will always ask to look in the mirror! HA!

I have been super busy!! We have had state retesting for a few students. Tomorrow we have 5th grade recognition practice, reception, and back that night the recognition program. It is going to be a long day!! However, I couldn’t be happier for all of my WONDERFUL students. They have made going to work a blast!

Weekend Update

We had a great weekend….

Friday we met Kim, Ed, and baby Claire at a local Mexican restaurant.  We had a great time catching up. Saturday we went to Anderson. We ran some errands and then headed to Hobby Lobby! Love that store! We were looking for upholstery fabric to redo our old dining table chairs and bar stools. We had no luck with fabric, but I did stumble across a really cute sheet of scrapbooking paper.

Remember this?…

DSC04686(rev 1)

Well I still felt like it needed something. I knew the paper I found would make a cute centerpiece for the table and it did!! The paper was 75 cents and the Modge Podge was $4.50. It couldn’t get any cheaper!

Right after….still drying…

After….with a clear coat for protection!

I LOVE the paper! I think I might get some more for frames in the play area. What do you think?

DSC04689(rev 1)

Speaking of play room….We are getting ready to start painting and installing chair railing.  Our play room is our old living/dining room. Now it is just one big room with some dark and scuffed up paint. I am wanting to do white on the bottom and something cheerful on top. Next weekend we are going to get the room ready for paint. Wish us luck!!

Here is some inspiration:

I LOVE the board and batten on the walls. I am begging Nick to attempt this upstairs!

I love the red, but I don’t think I would go that bold.

Anyway…we are going to my parents for supper tonight. Tomorrow we are taking all 89 5th graders to a coworkers house for some fun!! Also let me mention that I have class admittedly after school.  I am sure I will not be a pretty sight!!

Have a blessed week! Last week of school!!!!

Today at church we continued a series on praying for people that have not welcomed Jesus into their lives. We are suppose to make a Top 10 list of people we want to pray for. I am fortunate to be surrounded with people who love Jesus. However there are some people that still need prayers in that area. I am working on my list and praying for those already on it.

I love the scriptures that were discussed today:

Isaiah 54:10

“Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion for you.

Psalm 139:1-5

O Lord, you have searched me and known me.

You know when I sit done and when I rise up; and are acquainted with all my ways.

Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely.

You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me.

Exodus 33:17

And the lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

Have a blessed day!

Saturday Sweetness

photography1

Don’t you just love Saturday’s? For the most part, it is a day that you can finally slow down. A day where you don’t have a never ending to-do list. A day where you can BREATH!

I don’t mind working around the house because I am ultimately benefiting from the rewards. This morning have managed to cut dead rose buds, clean dog poo off of little shoes, cleaned up after a full spilled class of diet coke, cleaned all the stainless steel (no one told me how dirty that stuff gets!), windows, mirrors, and toilets. I have cleaned every dust bunny, and now I am watching my sweet baby watch Toy Story 3 and gently fall into a long NAP!

Speaking of TS3, Andrew LOVES the movie and has memorized several parts. I have to admit that I don’t mind watching it one bit!

Monday I start my Capstone class which consist of writing a 20 something page paper about all of my self discoveries I have made in this Master’s program. Not only do we have to write a lengthy paper, but we have to talk about ourselves to a panel of judges, and fellow classmates, for at least 10 mins. DREAD!!! Anyway….I am going to enjoy this last weekend of doing nothing. I hope you do the same!

My Mother’s Day/Spray Paint

DSC04615

I had a great Mother’s day! I got to sleep in and was waken by my sweet baby. He came in saying “Where’s Mama?” and then he said “Happy Mother’s Day!” So sweet!! He helped fix me breakfast and then brought me this!!

It is a beautiful Pandora bracelet with charm that represents his birthstone. I can’t wait to add more charms!

DSC04611

Later that day, I decided to tackle some projects that I have been putting off. I got these four chairs and a round white table from my mom. They are in rough shape, but nothing a coat of dark blue spray paint can’t fix. Unfortunately one of the cans started leaking, so we have to buy more. So more pictures later! I plan on using the chair and tables upstairs in Andrew’s play room.

DSC04616

Since I was in the spray painting kinda of mood, I decided to spray this Dollar Tree plastic sliversy frame a crisp white. I LOVE how it turned out. I will post how I use it later….

DSC04618DSC04619

I also painted to old metal planter boxes that I had for a while. They were dark brown and I have enough brown in my house, so I went with white again. I am so happy with how they turned out!

DSC04620

Here is one:

The other one is on our dresser. I plan on putting something inside later.

While we are in the bedroom…Here are two pillows I picked up a few weeks ago. They look way better in person. I had been looking for white shams forever!! They are so expensive! I found these large while pillows instead and they are great and so comfortable!!

That is all for now!! Have a great Monday!
