Andrew’s 1st Fish

We now have ourselves a fisherman! Thursday evening we headed to the pond, so Nick could throw the fishing pole in a few times. Well Andrew was very interested and of course wanted to help reel in the line. The first time he reeled it in, he caught a fish!!

Can you tell how happy he was?! Well he reeled the line in a again and caught ANOTHER fish!

Yesterday after work, we headed to Wal-Mart to Andrew’s his own fishing rod. We went to the pond and Andrew caught one more fish. He had even more fun running around and helping daddy and Pop fish!

Busy Weekend Update

This is how we are looking so far!
March
10th: Outside- clean up flower beds, cut grass, pull up some plants, and add border to some existing beds. While Nick is tackling that HUGE project alone (he will not let me help) I am going to go through Andrew’s baby stuff and see what we can use. Done! We just need to add mulch.
17th: Find a dresser and refinish if needed. This will be Abigail’s changing table and storage in her room. I have a vision, but I just haven’t found it yet. Anyone have an old dresser??? Found and refinished!!
24th and 31st: Finish countertop in office (needs to be cut and installed), paint old dining room chairs and shelf for Abigail’s room. I am allowing 2 weekends for this because we also have our church’s Easter Egg Hunt on the 24th. The shelf is done and the chairs are primed. The barstools and 1 chair is completely done. The counter top will be done next weekend.
April
7th: Nick’s Birthday weekend/Easter- NO PLANS!
14th and 21st: Paint Andrew and Abigail Bathroom (again I am not allowed to help, but I am sure will be keeping Andrew occupied anyway).
28th: Spring Cleaning- Clean House/Organize (give the house a DEEP cleaning)
May
5th: Buy any baby stuff that if left to get and wash everything
12th: Get swing, pack and play, and car seats out. Pack bags for hospital and Andrew.
I guess we are getting there. The bathroom project will be the biggest and it is coming up so soon!

Soaking it in…

Update: If you read this earlier I have added a sweet poem at the bottom that was sent to me. Thank you Ginger for reaching out to a mother in need! This poem describes everything I am feeling and it of course it made me cry!

I am trying to soak in the last alone days I will have with Andrew before my time is split. I have such mixed feelings about the whole thing. Of course we are beyond anxious and excited to have Abigail join our family. However, I know my time will be limited with this sweet boy.

He is at such a fun age!

Super silly and makes me crack up all the time!
DSC00200-2(rev 1)
He will be such a good big brother! Abigail will be lucky to have him to look up to.

Yes this pregnant woman is crying!

Loving Two

As I walk along holding your 2-year-old hand, basking in the glow of our magical relationship. Suddenly I feel a kick from within, as if to remind me that our time alone is limited. And I wonder: How could I ever love another child as I love you?

Then she is born, and I watch you. I watch the pain you feel at having to share me as you've never shared me before. I hear you telling me in your own way, "Please love only me" And I hear myself telling you in mine,"I can't," knowing, in fact, that I never can again.

You cry. I cry with you. I almost see our new baby as an intruder on the precious relationship we once shared. A relationship we can never quite have again.

But then, barely noticing, I find myself attached to that new being, and feeling almost guilty. I'm afraid to let you see me enjoying her -- as though I am betraying you.

But then I notice your resentment change, first to curiosity, then to protectiveness, finally to genuine affection.

More days pass, and we are settling into a new routine. The memory of days with just the two of us is fading fast. But something else is replacing those wonderful times we shared, just we two.

There are new times -- only now, we are three. I watch the love between you grow, the way you look at each other, touch each other. I watch how she adores you -- as I have for so long. I see how excited you are by each of her new accomplishments.

And I begin to realize that I haven't taken something from you, I've given something to you. I notice that I am no longer afraid to share my love openly with both of you. I find that my love for each of you is as different as you are, but equally strong.

And my question is finally answered, to my amazement. Yes, I can love another child as much as I love you -- only differently.

And although I realize that you may have to share my time, I now know you'll never share my love. There's enough of that for both of you -- you each have your own supply.

I love you -- both. And I thank you both for blessing my life.

Surprise Pinterest Project March-Tiered Planter

DSC00252-1(rev 1)
I decided to add another project for March because I just fell in LOVE with this (click on the picture to be taken to this WONDERFUL blog!)-
Pinned Image

Hers are gorgeous! I used pots I already had, so my end results looks a little different. I do think the results is quite cute! I can’t wait till all the plants grow in! I did place a empty clean paint can in the center of the bottom pot to help with the weight and add some stability for the other pots. I love her bold and bright colors, but for mine I used colors that match out house. The snapdragons on top look a little pitiful, but I am hoping they will sit up!

Dresser Redo Almost…

We have worked so hard this weekend to get some things knocked off our long to-do list. We were so lucky to find this fabulous dresser because it was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It needed a little love, but that is what I wanted. I wanted something with character that was not brand spanking new.
This is the before.
DSC00249-2(rev 1)
This is with the primer that we rolled and brushed. This was the longest part, but very necessary.
DSC00250-2(rev 1)
We wrapped the drawers in paper.
DSC00251-1(rev 1)
The almost after!! Nick sprayed the dresser with a white satin latex paint using a paint sprayer that he got at Christmas. This part went super fast! I love all the details! I know it is huge, but the nursery only has a crib and a glider and one very long empty wall. It also has no closet (Andrew has two, so most of her clothes will be in one of those), so we needed storage for diapers, blankets, etc. I will use the top for a changing table and decorations.
DSC00256-2(rev 1)DSC00258-1(rev 1)
All we have to do is put all the hardware back on. We spray painted it with a metallic spray. I love the little flowers on the hardware! Also the hardware came with the dresser and all we did was paint it.

This was an all day process, but the results are so worth it!

Easter Egg Hunt

Andrew had such a great time at our church’s Easter Egg Hunt! Last night I help stuff 2,000 eggs and make the snacks. I have to share the cute carrot cheese puff bags that we made! So adorable!!

We came home and had lunch. Andrew crashed for his nap. Nick and I primed this beauty! Tomorrow, Nick is going to paint it with his new sprayer. I am so excited about how this is going to look in Abigail’s room!
